MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings from the Southern California Council on African American Affairs (SCCBAA) Board of Directors! As we forge ahead with new board members, my special thanks to Dr. Tami R. Brooks, Vice President - Membership, Mr. Carlon L. Manuel, Vice President - Public Relations, and Dr. Lezlee Hinesmon-Matthews, Member at Large. Who have all willingly stepped forward to provide chapter leadership. This year we are extremely excited and look forward to continuing to dedicate ourselves to improving educational opportunities for Black American students and enhancing the professional development of Black American administrators, faculty, and staff.
Our organization understands the growing need for advocacy and is aware of equity issues raised by the shrinking resources available to colleges and universities. We seek to bring professionals and students together for knowledge sharing and support. We utilize workshops that include discussions with community college chancellors and presidents on a broad range of policy issues affecting African Americans. Workshops are also organized by presenters who share insights about career advancement strategies, job searching techniques, cultural competency skill attainment, and sources of inspiration. The SCCBAA is on a mission to provide these and other networking opportunities for members to maximize academic achievement and reach career goals.
I encourage you to join and support our organization. Please visit our website at www.sccbaa.org. And, for more information about our regional and national affiliates, please go to www.wrcbaa-ncbaa.org.
Best Wishes and I hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Sharon Dalmage, President
